Re: can turtles learn?

Turtles can become very smart creatures after awhile. Just wait and see. I\'m not sure but I think I\'ve caught mine watching TV a couple times. Hard to say. Maybe they are just staring off.

Re: feeding outside the tank

Feed them only pellet foods in the bucket and then if they eat that give them the shrimp. They will soon eat in the other bucket. Just takes some time and patience.

I have noticed that if you just put the fish in their you will notice that the turtles nibble at them a little bit every now and then. Then all of a sudden one comes up missing.

Turtles do eat their own feces and it is absolutely normal behaviour for them to do so. Mine do it all the time, it shouldn\'t hurt them.

Re: RES jerking the head

If it jerks it\'s head and opens it\'s mouth it could be choking. Try breaking up food into smaller pieces. This may not be whats wrong but it\'s worth a shot.

Re: full spectrum light? UV Heat?

I was always told solar drops are not a good idea. It is always better to just buy the light because the solar drops are artificial and you can even give your turtle overdosage. They say it is best to let your turtle create it\'s own D3

Re: Glenn? (illegal selling)

I don\'t think they should have stricter laws on selling turtles. First of all if you keep your turtles habitat clean to begin with you shouldn\'t have to worry about salmonella. Second of all it\'s not always a good idea to be kissing your turtles for any reason, and you should always wash your han...

Friends Red Eared Slider Died!!

My friend had her RES in her tank and got up the next morning to find it had been trapped under the basking rock and drowned. Always be careful to stabilize your basking area to prevent this from happening to your turtle.

if you have your turtles indoors you shouldn\'t have to worry about hibernation as long as your keep your water and basking area the correct temp. As far as prolapse, I have heard different things about it but never experienced it with my turtles. Some say that it will happen sometime in your turtle...
