My little buddy Leland passed away this week. Resperatory Infection. I took him to the vet, was told he was underweight and the water was too cold (about 76 to 80). He died later that night. New owners: do your research and don't take short cuts, I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. Adios,...

my turtle is about four inches, every second day he gets 3 pellets, some red or green peppers cut small, a bit of broccoli, carrots, or fruit. on the off days, he gets a piece of lettuce to munch on.

wow, that's tragic, but thank god you've got him now. Changing the water every day can be hard for the turtle, because it takes weeks for the proper bacteria to grow. Most importantly, he needs a dry area to bask, a water temperature around 80, and lots of fruits and vegetables, not just food pellet...

I've had rats before and they make excellent pets. They're clean, smart, friendly and have great personalities. I've also had a ferret. He ripped up carpets, peed everywhere, was tempermental and smelled ten times worse than any rat. Just thought you should know.

I take really good care of my turtle, but this one thing worries me. How does a turtle develop resperatory illness and how can it be prevented? It sounds like the leading cause of death and I don't know anything about it. :?:

I have three goldfish with the turtle named Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. They're all growing close to the length of Leland, and I hope he doesn't get inspired to eat them any time soon. I guess I'll keep him well fed, or suffer the consequences!

When my girlfriend was younger, she took her res out to the front lawn. When she came back from a very short trip inside, a seagull snatched it away right in front of her. Very sorry for your loss, it's very sad. I hope you go on to adopt another.

what is this about shipping turtles over the internet? Do they put them in a box and hope they survive the trip? This sounds rediculous. There are always people looking to pass off their turtle through adoption. Keep looking for these people because: A) you will get an older, healthier turtle, and B...
