Sorry for your loss. Sounds like if your vet would have taken a bit more time the #%^&! could have helped you and your turtle. Don't wait until you need one to find another vet. So some calling now and find one that is a bit more helpful.

I got one of those stumps too, with the same intention, until my turtles got too big and I had to help one get back out. It will work fine until they get bigger, just make sure you watch that they don't get stuck inside. Seems that just cuz they can work their way into it, doesn't mean they can work...

That don't sound good. Guess I would watch them pretty close for awhile, and depending on your situation maybe call a vet to see if an xray would show any glass fragments.

I have a 13yo tabby cat, and a 7yo rott, dobe, staffordshire bull mix. Both are girls and the cat is the queen. My big bad dog cowwers in the corner when the cat comes by. Duce (cat) drinks out of Poppy's (dog) water bowl, dog cries. Duce lays on couch, dog cries. Duce will roll and rub all over Pop...

This may sound silly but I don't suppose you still have the worm? The university here will identify just about anything you bring in and ask about. If you find another one that may be another resourse for you.

I don't know what you have for insects down there, but mosquito season is kicking off here big time, and what you described almost sounded like mosquito larvae. Any chance something could have laid eggs in the tank and now they have hatched?

Turtles in the rain!

Yesterday I was cleaning my tank and I put the turtles in the large rubber maid that I use when I clean. Well, it was raining out, and I got this bright idea to stick them outside and let them enjoy the rain. Well, they seemed to love it! They were sitting on their tummys and splashing the rain wate...

My turtle dock was always slimy on the bottom too, and the coating stuff eventually came off from my cleaning it. They never took any bites out of it though, but I use the turtle conditioners too. My turtles got too big for the docks so I made my own. I set a large, tall, square tupperware container...

Check your water temp as well. The warmer the water the faster the algae grows. In my tank the turtles are about 3 1/2 in diameter, so I got algae eaters that were way bigger. I have a 6 inch pleclostomos, and a couple bottom feeding catfish that are about 4 inches long. Since the fish are all huge ...

I usually try to clean my tank once a week too. I have one of those vacuum thingys for fish tanks, and work it thru the gravel on the bottom really well. Turtles eating tank neutralizers

Every time I drop a tank neutralizer into the tank, my turtles go to work chomping on it. What the heck am I missing for their diet. Yaa! Got the new tank and got it set up, but the turtles seem scared to death, are trying to hide in the corners. I put all their familiar plants that they like to push around the old tank back in the new one, and instead of the floating dock, they now have stones to get up and bask on. They have go...

When I first got my turtles, they wouldn\'t touch Reptomin either. Guess I was as stubborn as they were and kept offering it, even though they didn\'t seem interested. Continued to feed them the brine shimp as well, and seemed like one day they discovered they liked the reptomin as well. Now they be...

Their names are Jack and Cool. They have a basking area, one of those floating docks that suction cups to side of tank. I have them set up in a full aquarium with filters and such, and the water stays fairly clean, better then I thought it would. The light is a reptisun lights, had it left over from...

have had RES for about 6 months now

When my 6 year old sons started asking for pets of their own, I thought of everything that would possibly work out for them. But having a dog and cat kinda weeded out alot of options. My mother suggested turtles and I thought that would be a good place to start. Little did I know just what I was get...
