Hello Everyone! I haven't posted or been visiting lately. I probably havn't logged on in the last year or so. But I've run into a couple of red ear slider questions and I know this is a good place to turn. Question 1: What does a male turtle sex organ look like? I picked up my male RES to clean our ...

Basking is pretty normal. Unless they are spending large amounts of time (like all day) on their basking rock. Mine bask from about 6 am to 10 am every morning. I guess its just their ritual. How hot is the basking area? I keep mine at about 90* F. You said that you get a lot of natural sunlight. Yo...

They will need a much bigger tank. The water should be deep enough so that the turtle can flip itself over if it happens to land on its back. You can check out the website and other posts for more details on what you need to properly care for them. Its a lot of work but worth it in the end.

If you do indeed have two red ear sliders they can live for quite a while. In captivity 20+ years isn't uncommon. You should get the largest tank you can afford. The tank should have at least a basking area, a UV lamp, a basking lamp (over the basking area), a filter that is suited for a tank at lea...

how long have you had them? They probably won't be able to survive in the wild if you have had them for a long while, especially if you have had them since hatchlings. There may be some turtle rescue people in your area. You might try googling them. I hope this helps!

They say 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle. So 15 gallons would be the minimum, but the bigger the better. As for living in the fountain, the turtle should be alright as long as you have proper lighting (basking and UVA/B), filtration, heating, a basking spot and other basic stuff. If the fount...

Red ear sliders grow pretty fast. Your best bet is to buy the biggest tank possible that way you won't have to upgrade later. The rule of thumb is 10 gallons of water for every inch of turtles. I have two red ear sliders that are about 8inches between the two of them. I have them in a 30 gallon tank...

You'll see pretty soon that they'll each have their own personalities and markings. Then you probably won't need to mark them.
