mine is a combo of UVA/UVB and it was expensive as fecies, but i got it from petsmart. i wouldn't say that there would be a reason to change the bulb until it goes out. just comparing it to regular bulbs: regular bulbs don't get more dim before they go out .. so i'm just making an assumption to say ...

priced a 100 gallon tank? .. i can't even imagine. a 30 gallon reptile tank is $80 here. (and we tend to have the cheapest tanks!)

it's just amazing to me how much 5 pieces of glass, some silicone and some black plastic can amount to so much.

i would shop around. here at pet stores 10 gallon tanks are only $6.99 and MUCH more at walmart.

i've noticed that the tanks at walmart are pricey. but, that is just my experience down here in florida.

yes, my uv light is just like yours. even though the light may not be directly above and shining down on their basking area, the light is still there. think about the sun. even if the clouds are there, you're still getting the uv's! even if you're in an area where the sun isn't beating right now on ...

it would take a lot to break a sturdy glass heater. just make sure no big rocks are near it that could do any great damage to it if something WERE to happen, which would be really random.
