Re: Can I put to different size turtles in the same tank?

Maybe you can put both aquariums side by side so they can see and get used to eachother until the one grows up enough to put them together...?

Re: Peeling/Whitish Skin

I\'ll bet it\'s just shedding because it\'s growing. Very much like a snake, the skin will get flakey. My YBS\'s shell does it as well, between the scutes will get a white film and \"furry\" looking. It\'s been so interesting to see all the different phases of my girl as she grows.

Re: Do RES like rain? P.S. A lot?

How old are the turtles? Were they out in the pond last winter? If you think about it, these turtles, when they\'re not pets, are subjected to all of these environmental elements and have the great ability to adapt. Water turtles sink themselves into the mud at the bottom of ponds, their breathing s...

Re: aquarium, terarium, whats the difference?

I also would suggest you check on the weight of the glass of the aquarium vs. terrarium. I\'m quite certain terrariums don\'t require as heavy of glass since they\'re not intended to be filled with water. Even if you make it leak proof with sealant it might bust from the weight once it\'s full.

Re: algae

I actually read somewhere,...can\'t remember where now I\'ve read so many different sites regarding turtle care, that if you are growing algae it means you are doing something RIGHT! However, it can be a PITA for cleaning. I\'m anxious to see if anyone replies to this as well regarding getting snail...

Re: Turtles won\'t eat or bask

Like others said, they\'re probably just getting used to the new tank. If it were me, I\'d think about removing the plants, since that\'s something different and they seem to be hiding under them. I\'d also probably leave the food in the tank a little longer to give them more of a chance to eat. Hav...

Re: Is he burned!!!!!

The temperature of the water probably just sort of \"shocked\" him if he\'s used to something cooler. If he\'s not showing any signs of distress, and the skin doesn\'t look irritated I wouldn\'t worry about it too much. just keep an eye on him.

Re: Soft Shell--how soft?

Don\'t forget that there\'s a soft little body beneath that shell and that might be what\'s making you feel a \"bounce\" or \"spring\" when you push down. Feel the shell with your fingernail, tap on it, lightly scratch over it. Does THAT feel soft? If so you might have a problem....

Re: 2 headed turtle!!!!!

Holy Cow. I wonder if they both control the legs? or if one head controls 2, etc. It\'d be wanting to go off in 2 diff. directions.

I have enough trouble keeping ONE mouth fed!

Poor thing.
