Age has nothing to do with mating it all goes to size. If you are talking in terms of RES it is usually 5 inches for the males and about 6-7 inches for the females. I feed my babies once a day and sometimes float romaine in their tank. Never use iceberg lettuce it has no nutritonal value and the turtles can get hooked on it.

Yes there are many names for many different types of turtles its usually best to use the most common name or the scientific name. But care for all musks are the same but they just need a larger tank like a 40 breeder 3/4 filled up with a basking area.

It may not be a slider and if it is its probably a YBS or RES. It also could be a cooter cooters look very similar in apearance to sliders but grow larger and eat more vegetation. I would guess a Pennisular cooter if not a slider.

Thats turtle is a musk. Its from mexico and its fairly large and has hinged shells so im going to say a giant mexican musk turtle.

If your willing to go a bit smaller you could just get the 125 gallon wide tank they have for 260$ U.S. Its not custom made, and i dont know if they custom make glass ones i know they make them in acrylic.

toldya neither of them were snappers, Snappers can get to be around 4feet long and 300 pounds but those are alligator snappers, Common snappers get to be about 2feet long and 75 pounds. Lets put it this way thhey cna get as big as a German shepard and as heavy as a St.Bernard.

Never heard of clipping claws, It might be bad because there are membranes in the claws and nerve ending which would hurt him if cut directly. You could file them down a little bit or dull them would be my suggestion.

They have the same food needs. A cooter is not much different than a RES but if you want ot identify it goto www.turtletimes.com and register there and post a pic of it and andy will probably tell you what it is. My guess is a yellow bellied slider. But im only the snapper guy.

All you need to do it get a long normal mesh tank cover and put it horizontially across the rubbermaid works fine and good for the light fixtures.

Acrylic and glass come in any thickness 1/4inch is what it is required to come in to restrain the pressure of water up to fifty gallons of pressure for 1/4 then u goto 1/2 and 3/4 and 1. You can check it out at www.glasscages.com they sell sheets of it custom cut.

How much does the package say that the gallons it can go up to. For a 75 gallon tank you will probably need around a 100 gallon tnak filter. And carbon cartridges help reduce the smell greatly.
