Re: water height

I hate to be a nag, but you should seriously consider upgrading your tank size. A 20-gallon tank is not large enough for a turtle 5 inches long. Remember, you should have 10 inches per inch of shell length at least. I would even consider going ahead and getting a tank that is larger than 50 gallons ...

Re: Question about tank size

12 gallons is definitely way to small for your turtle. If you\'re on a tight budget, consider shopping at discount stores.. also i have heard that large rubbermaid containers can serve as temporary tanks. there is a great site www.glasscages.com that has large aquariums for pretty reasonable prices....

it needs to be as deep as the turtle is long so that the turtle can right itself up if it falls on its back.

Re: getting 3 baby res

Well.. the general rule I have seen on most web sites is at least 10 gallons for each inch per turtle. Your turtles will need a basking area. It could be a large rock or an area of gravel, as long as all the turtles can have a place where they can get completely out of the water. Directly over this ...

i am almost positive that the water you use should be dechlorinated... thats why i use distilled water but now i\'m going to consider using different water because of what mariza said.

Well, thats kind of a personal preference thing. I too have a baby turtle the same size as yours. Re: I need help

Well, your turtle MUST have a place to bask. Since you don\'t have a rock rock or basking lamp, I would suggest maybe putting, if you have one, a shallow, small tuperware container in the tank and then place the tank in a well lighted area. Someone gave me a good piece of advice regarding a heater: ...

Oh, one more thing. The man at Petsmart told me to have the water go only about 2 inches above the gravel on the bottem of my tank. Right now, my RES is just a baby. Is this the right amount of water or should it be deeper?
