if you place it in front of a window you might have to invest in a algae killing thing... it might even be more exspensive then a proper lighting unit .

take a look on www.thatpetplace.com and get an idea on what things cost and features.

My suggestion would be to buy all the correct items needed before getting a turtle. You might be anxious and ready to own / care for a turtle but with out the proper setup you might be a short time owner. Since turtles never stay small... at least a RES I would suggest you pick up the largest tank y...

"If you are still seeking a reply" Why Yes I am... You have brought up good points, But with the size of the three turtles and the constant movement of the gravel I think that the sand wiould not trap the poop and let it flow to the filter without any problem. I have a filter that is right on the mo...

Between 75 and 80 will be nice for them. Make sure there is some sort of cirulation in the pond or it will freeze up regardless of the size of the heater if the temps drop below 25.

Good luck.

It's not the SAME.

Fluval 404 = 340gph.

Penn Plax Cascade Canister Filter 1000 = 265 GPH

To me that is a Big difference.

Go big, Very BIG.
Why keep upgrading when you can be done in one shot. I finally have a 90 gal after two years. I think this will do for l0ng time.

It will cost more to buy two or three tanks then to just buy one now. Save up and just commit.
