Re: Canadian Members?

Hi there PX I live about 2 hours from toronto and I might be able to give your turtle a home. How long until you are moving? I come to Toronto often so I\'ll see if I\'m coming up there before you move. I\'ll also have to get the ok from my parents...lol.

Re: Flim on top of water

I had this before and I belive it was just that the top of the water was not being moved as much as the rest of the water, so I just aimed my filter so it would break the top of the water and I\'ve never had the film since.

Re: not too sure!!!

I have the glass off that protects my UVB light and so far it\'s ok. Just be sure that water can\'t get at it and that it can\'t fall in. As far as fire goes the uvb light doesn\'t give off heat so I wouldn\'t worry about fire.

Biotize?

My turtle recently got an eye problem from the chlorine in my water or at least that\'s what I thought until I went to the pet store to pick up something that would take chlorine out of the water. When I got there and I explained my problem to the guy there he told me that I should be using this Bio...

Re: question

I don\'t think so. I checked it out and they sell turtle lagoons with up to 6 turtles!! >:( These are nicknamed death bowls. Also the largest tank they sell is a 20 gallon that can come with up to 4 turtles that are 5-6 inches in lengeth and they say this is good for the turtles life time. They even...

Re: What kind of tortoise is this?

Ok first you need to put them in a tank that has 10 gallons of water for every inch of turtle, if money is tight you can buy a rubbermaid container for cheap. Next you need to give them a basking area, refer to this page for help on how to build one: http://www.atphabitats.com/The%20Basking%20Spot.h...

Re: Algae (?) on Shell

I would get an algea eater b/c they are small when you first get them, so it should be ok until you get a larger tank(then you would be able to watch two pets grow together!). If you can I suggest making the water level deeper, as deep as you can get it, this will help the filter do a better job. Yo...

Re: hates the banana, straberry,melon,apple,romainelettuce,c

Do you feed them turtle pellets? Turtle pellets should be the main thing you feed them, everything else should just be a treat. I don\'t suggest you feed them goldfish in the future b/c they are very fatty, I suggest minnows or guppies. P.S. Not all turtles like the same things. Some just don\'t lik...

Re: Algae (?) on Shell

First I suggest you get a toothbrush and clean off the turtle\'s shell. I would do this maybe once every month. Second I suggest you get a plecostomus (?) aka an algea eater. what do you mean by sunlight because if you mean near a window that will not do for your turtle. You need a uva heatlamp and ...

Are RES a common turtle to be effected by chlorine in the water? B/C my turtle constantly closes her eyes when people are in the room(this is something she would never do before), she sometimes rubs her eyes, and she sometimes twitches her head when her eyes are closed. If this is due to the chlorin...

This could be the cause of a dietary problem. Be sure that you are feeding them the proper food. Also be sure that if you have a uvb, if not I suggest you get one, that it is still giving of uvb rays. Also be sure that the softening of the shell is not the onset of fungal infection. If the shell doe...

Re: aquatic turtles

An aquatic turtle is a turtle that rarely ever gets out of the water. A semi- aquatic is a turtle that is kind of 50/50 half their time is spent in the water and half their time is spent basking. Your slider is a semi aquatic so a basking area is required and a heat lamp.

Re: I found an egg

If you only have 1 turtle in your tank this most likely means that it is a female and that it laid a still egg (has nothing in it basicly). If you have another turtle in there though it means it could be a male and that they bred so you should look for other eggs.
