Re: Baby RES

Buying baby turtles is unfortunatly illegal in I think every state :( but I adopted a baby red ear slider last year. I had to feed her live fish at first the are manly carniverous when they are babies. I would give him some space and try the fish he might eat them, keep introducing the pellets to hi...

Hi. I have one red ear slider named lilypad, lily for short. She likes the turtle dock, she walks around on it and is able to change positions easly, I have the large one. I have had it for about a month or two now, so far it is holding up great. I have it length wise, a good distance away for both ...

I use one I think that they are fine, it keeps my turtle out of the water and she can walk around outside of the water more she loves it. I don\'t see why there would be a problem with the turtle dock as a basking platform.

I myself use both. It is said that the chlorine can sometimes cause problems with the health of a turtle, but some say it helps kill the bacteria in the water. It might depend on your turtle. Your turtle could have gotten an infection for the particals in the water. I would try to use both and if th...

Hi, how big are your turtles? The rule of thumb for turtles in a tank is ten gallons of tank space per inche of turtle shell, that goes for each turtle, you are going to need a big tank... I would look in the paper or on ebay. I heard somewhere that a regular light bulb is fine for heat as long as i...

I was told that most red ear sliders do that , you can try putting that decoration stuff that goes on the outside of the glass all of the way around this is said to help because they see the ground and not an open space but I don\'t know how true it is. p.s I answered this already but somehow it got...

Re: Can RES eat other RES?

I was told that if you are egoing to introduce a new turtle to your current pet then you should try to make sure that it is around the same size because the other one will more then likely hurt it or even kill it because it feels that the new one is invading its territory. I think it is true that so...

They might pick at the snails which aren\'t harmful to your turtles. You could try feeding them anarchris, or whater hyacinths they are said to love them. Another good veggie is romain lettuce. Mine loves it. Good luck keep us posted.

If it is only a short distance from your home then I would suggest putting some wet paper towels in the bottom of a container. This is an easy way to keep them wet and it is safe, if you put water in the container then they will more than likely bounce from side to side, this may cause injury. I wou...

Re: Price on rubbermaid container

No i don\'t have any pictures but a screen lid placed on top of the container would be better than glass because i think it might intensify the rays from the lightbulb and you dont want to burn your turtle but im not sure. Another idea is to hang it off of a shelf if it is a clamp lamp.

I bought a rubbermaid container at Wallmart for about $6 but the price might have gone up it shouldn\'t cost too much. You can put a rock platform in the container which you can find at most petstores at a pet store, or a plastic log stump (I have one of those). A uvb lamp, and a heat lamp are good....

People say that you are supposed to give them a variety, but I don\'t think giving them a lot of lettuce can hurt them, if you are worried then you could always give her (:D ) it every other day. Many of the posts when asked about vegitation say that you can let the lettuce float around in the tank....

I think that would be a good idea in the winter because its cold but during the summer it gets warm even in the air conditioner its not that cold. Plus since hes gonna be out of water for a while you dont want to dry out his skin or dehydrate him by adding a heat pack.
