They are found along the Atlantic coast from Cape
Cod to the Florida Keys and over to Texas. |
| Size: Males: 4 to 6
inches. Females: 6 to 10 inches. |
| Habitat: They like
to hang around brackish waters, coastal marshes, tidal
flats, and estuaries. |
| Food: Carnivorous;
they eat snails,crabs, oysters, clams, and insects. |
| Interesting Fact: They
are listed as a threatened species. They were previously
hunted to near extinction. |
