This worked on mine.
GET SNAILS! they work like a charm! But you have to make sure they don't have parasights. they just look like really little snails! they will work their way into your turtle and then multiply many times! just a FYI _________________ I have 3 dachshunds, Meggie, Lucie, And *Baby Baluga Butthead* Pixie!! i do not suggest snails. my turtle ate mine. you can get things that remove phosphates and nitrites from your water to put into your filter. algae is a plant that requires these nutrients in order to grow. if you get rid of them, it wont grow as much. you can find them at pet stores. otherwise, get a big Algae Eater fish, this is the actual name(they come in small sizes, but they will be eaten). dont get a pleco, they are too slow. the algae eaters are fast enough to stay away from the turtles. i have had mine since my turts were small. we had a few tail-munching issues, but now the three of them get along great. the fish cleans the turtle shells and the turltes will come over and lie on the fish. its really quite cute. you should get a sunken barrel ornament or something for the fish to hide in so it can escape the turtles... but yeah, the best thing really is the phosphate/nitrite removers (it might be nitrAte, i can never remember which one) _________________ I love my turtles! |
