Hello, I'm Alshon. When I was younger my dad used to always get me boxer tortoises, and stink pots but I never took care of them I only played with them.
One day I was biking up to my old job (a pet store where I work part time) and I saw a rock desperately crawling across the street. Instead of passing it I pulled my bike over to check it out. It turned out it was a baby eastern painter turtle! About 2-2.5 inches in length and beatifully marked I put it in my back back (this was a few months ago and the stream was dried up) and road up to the store. Luckily I had a 20 gallon turtle tank my stepmom got me for christmas even though its illegal to sell turtles in my home state.
The tank is running beautifully I have guppies (both fancy and feeder), moons, barbs, and a loach in there as well as a ton of anacharis I buy weekly to feed Duddy (the turtle). He's a hardy eater of any crayfish, turtle food (for hatchlings) and any fish worth more then $5. Through different ways advised through the internet I've figured my turtle was a male.
My only problem is I don't know many things about turtles other then what I research online and in books. I joined this site hoping more experience turtle owners could bestow upon me their knowledge and advise.
Also I got 2 male painters for my current love interest. They are both in a thirty gallon tank and tend to fight so the tank is divided in two. I'll randomly post questions about them in the correct area later.
Please treat me kindly |

Well, having researched about turtles on the net and having joined this site in order to further your knowledge of turtles, I would say that you are off to a good start.
