Follow-up to my last post.

Tucker is still seeming like he wants out, though he did bask a ton last night. He's spent the better part of an hour trying to climb out. Now, I don't like that he's falling while doing so, I worry he'll hurt himself. By the same token I'm not going to remove his basking platform.

Here's a video of what he's doing. Sigh.

He sits in his shell, then scoots around and wanders. I don't particularly like having him out of the tank. Heh.

Heart-breaking and yet...

as far as an update goes, it must have just been moving jitters, he's back to normal now. Swim swim. Bask bask. Root root. Chase fish. Beg for food. Bask more.

I haven't gotten my tank yet, but I'm getting anxiety thinking of this happening... And it angers me that I've gotten a 40 gallon tank and won't be able to fill it as much as I could because I'm sure Thor's gonna try to make a break for it.

But maybe he'll like the tank... Right now he is obviously being claustrophobic because all I can offer him is a 10 gallon rubbermaid tank and I understand his anger... He's happy in the tub, but I can't set up my heating lamp there!

But thing is, as your Tucker demonstrates, they are damned good at stretching for all they're worth, and I'd be terrified of him flipping on the outside!

Ah, the basic contrariness of the slider! My big girl had a whole fenced in backyard to play in, put her down and she makes a beeline for the fence, hooks both front paws through it, and rattles it like she's in a cell! It's how they are, part of having a brain the size of a hazelnut. She can reach above her head and HEAVE herself out of a tank or box, which is better than the little african side-neck: THAT one uses her claws as climbing spikes -once surprised us sneaking out of a styrofoam container!
