Is it normal if the turtles shed the scales on their shell? lately I've found they are a little looser and today I found one on the bottom of the tank. It doesnt seem to be affecting his daily life and I can't tell where they came off at. I do however see the water under the loose ones on his shell.

It is normal. As the turtle grows he sheds. If he developes excessive sheading, he may need more basking time or you may be over feeding.

No he doesn't shed a lot. I feed him on a schedule and a certain amount so I know I don't over feed him...and he spends most of the afternoon laying out so he basks a lot. He's a pretty healthy turtle, just wanted to make sure this was normal.

As deesygirl said, this is normal. As your turtle gets older, he won't shed as much, but just like a snake sheds its skin, a turtle will shed scutes from its shell.
