|
|
Hey,
I have kept tropical fish in the past, and haven't had anything for a while. At the end of the year I am looking at setting up a tank again, and I am looking at setting up a turtle tank, as I have never done it but always wanted to.
So, I have a 3 foot tank with an external canister filter, and heater (is a heater needed??).
What else is needed for a turtle tank? I know I need to get a ledge for the turtle to bask on. What sort of light is needed above the ledge? Do you need a special light, or are normal fleuro lights fine?
Do they eat most plants (or all??)?
Can you keep other fish also, or will they generally be eaten?
Any help would be great.
Thanks |

| heaters are need for hatchlings need around 80 degrees and grown trutles need mid 70's. The canister filter is very good. They need a UVA/UVB light for their health. Also, they do eat more omnivourisly as adults, so they either need pellets and/or plants(vegetables, fruit). Also its a great idea to keep feederfish in the tank to, they may or may not eat them, depending on which you get. Fish can be in there but, if they or too small, or even arge, they may not make it. |
