Hello All,

I have a question about the water in my turtle set up.

I have a bare minimum set up in a 65 gallon tank. I have large pieces of store bought & home boiled slate in the bottom of the tank.

I also have a turtle dock and a fluval 4 filter (until I can get one or two more or a canister filter)

Also there are 3 large feeder comets and one small feeder guppy along with two (male & female) RES.

My question is, what can I do about the water that is turning yellow?

I thought it was the slate pieces in the bottom, but they've been washed and rewashed. Also they've been there for a long time so its strange that the water is turning yellow now.

I plan on doing a partial water change to alleviate my problem right now, but I'd prefer to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks! [/img]

you mght just want to replace all, or about 5/6 of your water. only changing half will still leave some of the yellowness. I really don't know what i am talking about but, i do know it would help if you change your water

I did about a 75% water change.

I have an internal filter so I didn't want to change all of the water. From fish tank experience, I know you can't do a 100% water change because the filter naturally builds up symbiotic bacteria that helps to filter the water.

Its still slightly yellow, but its getting better Smile

hm, you might want to think about getting an external filter, or not, I dunno.
ovcertime tho you still might want to just change the water to get rid of the rest of the yellow
