my turtle just died at 2 40 louisiana time he died of ri sad thing is that i now have to get rid of 1 of my 2 turtles left

why do you have to get rid of the other one? is he sick too? have you taken him to the vet to see that the living one is okay?

i have to get rid of it cause its agressive and i dont got the money or space or time to make a whole other setup Neutral

But what set up where you using with them before?

I know the feeling of not having time or money but it seems like you were starting to like your turtles alot and thats how i started feeling once i got them. I had no clue turtles could be so kool to own, i got mine as a gift from an ex boyfriend who thought they were low maintenance.

At first i couldnt afford to purchase the set up but it killed me to think that i had to give them away and not be sure that they are okay. If you really cant care for them make sure you give him away to someone who has alot of experience. Otherwise, think hard on making it work where you can keep him and if you are low on cash do what i did to set my turtles up in a proper home. Go on craigslist and see if anyone is selling used stuff like filters, tanks, heaters, etc... i purchased a 60 gallon tank on there with stand for $100 and purchased a filter on ebay and saved $50 from teh original price. If you do some hard research online you can find people or sites that sell stuff at reasonable price. Or another suggestion that i did was pick up books on turtles and find out alternate ways to set up a tank if you are on a budget. they have so many kool ways for you to set up a decent habitat. Might not be as fancy as you see most people post on here but at least the turtle can live comfortable and it might motivate you to save up money to get him a nicer home. Thats how i wound up getting them a nicer home, i got envious of other peoples set up and saved money to get everything. I spent over $700 but was well worth it and i still saved alot of money Smile

After that you wont have to worry about spending big bucks on them. What i would strongly suggest you get that you wont have to replace when they start growing is getting the biggest size tank you can fit in your place because RES grow pretty quick and tanks are not cheap. Filters are also not too cheap and such an important thing to own for big tanks.

i got a nice set up it was expensive with the whole process i went through if i make another setup it will be my 3rd setup in less thn 5 months and i just got a puppy so it is also a time/space issue

what i am confused about is what happened to your old set up? did you sell it? is the turtle outgrowing it?

how old is your turtle? how big is he?

they outgrewmy old setup so ih had 2 buy a whole new 1 so this will b my 3rd

oh okay. well i guess if you cant afford it then its probably best to find your turtle a good home. did you try craigslist? you might find someone on there.

its a website that you can sell and buy stuff and has forums, job listings, just about anything. check it out, they have it for everywhere. I live in New York and its very popular here, not sure how popular it may be where you are. I see you are from Louisiana so here's the link for your State.

when you go to the site either go to "for sale" or check out "community" and yu will see a category named "pets" you can put a post offering your turtle. its a free website.
