ok here is the thing. They say for captive turtles they need to have 1 gal per inch of the turtle. If all three of your babies are only 1 inch right now they need to be in ATLEAST 30 gal of water. Already the 10 gal is too small as is the thirty gal. babies tend to hit growthsprits really quickly and before you know it will be about 1-2 inches bigger. if you have a female they grow much faster than males, and when they start getting bitter than the males you will probably need to sepparate them bc they will no longer get a long. So you will more than likely end up needing 2 maybe even 3 takes. Females get to be about 9 in. Thats a 90 gal tank... HUGE. and males about 5in. Thats a 50 gal tank. However, now you have three to think about. You can gradually upgrade the tanks, but you will be spending much more money than if you just go for a big tank now... like maybe a 75 gal tank... altho these are about 200 bucks and remember again you will need more than one tank once they start growing (they will out grow the 20 gal tank and start needing to be sepperated in about 6 months) The room is important for them for safetly reasons... with out enough swimming room they can become very aggressive, they can become sick or stressed. When turtles get stressed out they can get respiratory infections and stop eating. The room is not just for vanity reasons they need this much water to live. With too little water they can flip them selves over and drown bc they don't have enough room to flip them selves back over. Remember that they may be small now, but they grow... FAST. its only a matter of months before they started outgrowing tanks.
