My red-eared slider is in a breeder tank, with good volume, but the water seems to get cloudy not long after a full water change. This seems to correspond with the amount of green algae growing inside.... I clean it out, but it comes back eventually, darnit.

My question: Is it safe to use the algae treatments intended for fish tanks? One of the brands had a warning against using it with crustaceans, which is close enough to a herp to give me pause.... Does anyone have a recommendation?

Hey i got a suggestion for ya, Use pennies. Copper in pennies can prevent alge from growing. Pennies will dissolve slowly, and will not harm your turtle. So if you put a few(around 10) clean pennies in your tank, should do you well.

I would assume that you must use pennies pre 1983 and after 1982, they were no longer made of copper. They were made of zinc and just copper plated. It is said that the copper in a penny can also inhibit snail in the tank.
