Hi..my name is Terry, and I live in New York. I have an Eastern painted, about 7 months, and three hatchlings...yellow belly, 2 Southern Painteds. I also have a Three toed about 7 months old.
I just put a pond in my yard..a small one for now..only 60 gal. Can these little water turtles swim OK to put them in for the summer? The Southern Painteds are about as big as your thumb nail. Of course I would take them in for the winter. Thanks.

It is a good idea. However make sure you have many areas in which they can take breaks. Since they are still rather small they drowned easily.
