my little turtle, only eats wheni break the pellet in half. He sometimes can eat 3 pellets in the morning. but then when i feed him later on, he doesnt seem to be hungry, however the directions say feed him a couple of times a day.
yesterday, he didnt eat at all.
also, the little guy sleeps alot. he bakes under the lamp and kinda like to hang there all day long, but sometimes he hangs half in the water, and the other half of him on the 'log'.
He doesnt seem to swim too much.
the other thing i noticed, is the little guy seems to 'yawn'. He opens his mouth like he is yawning. do turtles yawn? he does it about every few minutes.
he does eat, so i think he is ok, but im not sure how often and how much should he be eating.
someone gave me two turtles, one already had died, so i went out and went crazy buying him the write tank and food. at least thats what they told me at petco.
I kinda im getting attached to the little guy and i dont want to lose him too.
any help, or is this just me being over protective of the little guy. |

| How long have you had him? When I first got my baby turtles, they didnt eat as well. I also had to break the pellets in half for them to eat. |

i had him about 3 weeks now. How much did your turtle eat when he was a baby?
is this 'yawning' thing, him begging for food?
It seems the only time he will eat, if i put the food practically in front of him.
how do you know if you are over feeding or underfeeding a baby turtle. I guess thats my big question. |

How's he doing? Has he started eating more and become any more active? _________________ I brake for turtles! |

| I am not totally sure, but I remember reading somewhere that the "yawning" is a sign of a respitory illness or something like that. You might look through the forum or online about turlte respitory diseases. That could also explain why it does not eat very much also. Sorry I can't be more helpful with that, but definately take a look for some info about the yawning. |
