I use a rubbermaid container and the heat lamps have not melted my container.Use the kind of lamp that has a clamp or maybe even a good old fashioned desk lamp could work.As long as the bulb is not like touching the rubbermaid you should be all good.

yes me too. i have a 90 qt rubbermaid and have a clamp light and it's fine. some have different "lips" for the edges so make sure there is a good part to clap so the light doesn't slip down

just a guess, but it the water is "real hot" maybe the basking light is too close. I got a clamp light from Petco and it's clamped and facing down toward the rocks. The water is not hot. I'm definetely not a turtle expert but i wonder if u are leaving the light on too long ..?

I'm thinking the lamp might be close to the bowl? How big is the bowl is another question? The lamp can warm up the water if there is less surface space and if the water is shallow.

mmmm not sure a computer lamp is good especially in such a small container. I guess if money is an issue make sure the light is more of a distance away from the water so it doesn't get too hot.
