My turtle(red eared slider) the other day was out crawling around on my bed. She then fell off..and my bed is not even a foot off the ground.I picked her up and she was hssing. i was like wats wrong. so i looked at the back of her shell and the things at the end two are like connected to the others. i could bend them up and down.(yes i kno i shudnt cuz it was hurting , but i had to) its been two days now and it doesnt look like its getting any bit better. It looks as if its getting worse. My mom said within a 2 weeks if nothing changes she will do something. But i dont want to wait 2 weeks. That could be too long. I dont even kno why her shell broke that bad when she falls off my bed all the time. That turtle has been thru sooo much! So can some one help me?!?!? |

At the top of this page are some green buttoms. Click the one for turtle care. It has good information about cracked shells. Usually you can superglue them and they will be fine. I would call a vets office and ask them. Sometimes they will give you a little advice over the phone. ANd if there was no blood then it sounds like your turtle would be a canidate for gluing.
Please be careful when you take your turtle out of it's habitat. One, they can be fast and accidents happen so quickly. But even more so, I would worry about contamination of items like your bed. Turtles carry a very bad bug called salmonella. It can make you or your family very ill. _________________
