I was lucky to get this picture last week of my female eastern box turtle "Chip" laying 5 eggs at 3 AM in the morning!

I've had "Chip" for over 15 years now and she has never laid fertile eggs (just like my 22 year old 3 toed Clyde, until this year). That's because I never had a mate for her until 2 years ago. She always would lay eggs on the surface never digging a nest.

This was the first time she has ever dug a nest and laid eggs in it for me! I am also happy to say, all 5 eggs have turned a nice white color, a very good sign they are fertile!

They are in the incubator along with 4 other eggs laid yesterday by another female eastern I have (the one with the healed cracked shell). Looks like there will be a lot of eggs hatching at the same time for me in a couple months!
