| i have an eastern painted turtle and wondered what fruits and veggies would be good to feed and how often daily, ocassionally, etc. i have 2 bearded dragons and they eat collards, mustards, and turnip greens so i was wondering if it would be ok to feed these greens seen as i already have them and what other greens and fruits i should look into keeping around thanks!! |

No one has responded yet so I thought I'd give it a try...
Fruits and veggies are great for turtles and a much needed part of their diet. When they're babies, they require more protein than the adults do, and often won't touch the veggies, but offering them is always good. The greens that you mentioned are perfect, as they are high in calcium and other good stuff. My little painted will eat carrots, peas and green beans too. I've tried strawberries and blue berries, but he's not as interested in those.
If they don't eat the veggies, it's good to supplement the vitamins and noutrients with the turtle pellet food or a commercial veggie stick made for reptiles. |
