my res has all the nesesites (uv, heating,filter,basking dock) but i need plants and substrat right ? if so what kind _________________ YAR im a bad speller and alot of typos come my way.....i love my chewbacka |

you can get substrate if you want, you should get river rocks or other big stones, not aquarium gravel. i got my river stones from home depot, then i washed the dirt of them, and boiled them to sterilize them, then put them in the tank after they cooled a bit.
as for plants, they add a nice touch. plastic plants are the easiest and they are cheap and come in nice shapes and colours. real plants work too, you can just leave them in the little cups they come in and put them in the tank. the only thing wtih real ones is that the turtle will eat it, and it might clog your filter. also, you need to be careful what types of real plant you get. honesly, fake plants is the easiest way to go, if you want your turtle to eat green vegitables (which it should) use romaine lettuce (not iceburg ever!) _________________ I love my turtles!  |
