I've had murtle & mildred for a year now. I thought i was picking things up and doing pretty well as they are both still alive and looking healthy & happy! That was until last week.........I went to a sea life centre. There was a turtle sanctuary there, it was great, so many different turtles!! It was the first time ive seen sea turtles up close & personal!! .....Anyway as this is a sanctuary i would imagine these guys know what they are doing. They had a tank about twice the size of mine with 6 yellow belly sliders in, i think they were full grown. The thing is there wasnt very much water in it. I always thought there should be lots of water in a turtle tank. I have mine filled up about 3/4 with water as i imagined they would like lots to swim in but the sancturys was only filled about 1/4 with water. This has now got me wondering should my water be so deep for such small turtles? They seem happy enough swimming around and wandering around at the bottom of the tank but i just would have thought a specialist turtle sanctuary would know better.......HELP!!!!!!! |

| Its better the way you have the water. The more room the happier. |

i agree with turtl_girl... more water, more happiness but of course u need a vading / basking place..
its like humans, tooo much water and no land makes u worried... (no boat)
but too much land and no water also makes u worried.
i think you should continue with your own work _________________

They may have just gotten them, or that is a temp setup for a couple days, or just during the day, or they were cleaning it. Whatever the reason they should always have them in the correct setup or have it posted that they need deeper water. _________________ 3 sulcata,11 red ears,1 yellow belly,1 melanistic slider,1 map,1 western painted,2 3 toe boxies,1 striped mud,2 japanese pond,2 common musk,1 russian,1 ornate wood,1 FL Cooter,7 annam pond,2 back wood,1 Malayan box,1 Red belly |
