Hi everyone.
Ok, so I'm moving house in Five weeks (32 days, actually, not that I'm counting!)
I'm moving from Northern Ireland to South England - Kent, to be exact.
My problem is I don't know what the best way to transport my three turtles would be. They all live in the same tank, and all get on real well. They're also small. The smallest is Babs - about 1 inch - and Bob and Billy are about 2 / 2 half inches.
It's a military move, my furniture is collected on the Monday, we have to stay in a hotel that night, travel on an overnight ferry to England on the Tuesday night, stay in hotel Wednesday night, take over the new house on the Thursday, and my furniture will eventually arrive on the Friday. Problem also is that I have two dogs, one of which (George - he's in the photo gallery) has a particular fascination with my turtles, so I can't leave them together.
BTW the dogs stay in kennels when we're in hotels obv.!
We're moving in early December, so it'l be real cold.
What's the best and safest way do you think?
Pleae help, I want to take care of them as best i can! _________________ Have a nice day, and remember to smile and be nice to all! |

sorry for the wait. my best advice would be to keep them warm as best you can. a heat rock would work, but feed them at night in water, they need water to eat.... um, five days of travelling..... hmmm, i would suggest maybe finding a way for them to bask during the day sometimes, just so they dont get stressed out...... when you are actaully transporting them, keep them seperated, (i.e. in seperate tubs) so that they dont hurt each other tyring to escape, and keep it dark and moist. (dark as in, a closed, not clear containor, so that they cant see out and other things cant see in. they will feel secure knowing that no one can see them. this will reduce their stress levels and make it easier on them. but you need to keep them warm and make sure that they eat, or at least offer food and water. thats all i got, i hope it helps. sorry i didnt repsond before, i needed to think about it. its a toughie alright!
good luck i hope all goes well. _________________ I love my turtles! |

thank you SOOO much for your help. I'll definately keep that all in mind.
I just dont wanna harm them. I know they're gonna get stressed, obviously, but I want to minimize this as much as possible! _________________ Have a nice day, and remember to smile and be nice to all! |
