We have two small red-eared sliders. They are very picky eaters and will only eat meat. We've tried various vegetables, Turtle Bites, and turtle pellets. Now they are showing signs of Vitamin A deficiency! How can we get these guys to eat something that's high in Vitamin A?
THANKS!!!!!! |

Storm is right if all you offer is pellets ( babies won't really eat veggies) they will eventually eat them as oppsed to starving. Animals are just like that, and turtles can go for weeks between meals with no harm done to them. It happens in the wild more than you know.
As for Vit. A defic. The most noticable symptom is swollen eyes. _________________

Thanks for the replies. I think you are probably right and we have been spoiling these babies by feeding them good stuff every day.
They did have the swollen eyes and we have been administering drops. One turtle showed immediate improvement and the swelling reduced, but the other seems to be doing worse. I'm worried that he might have a respiratory ailment. |
