Hi, great site! I'm new to the site and new to turtles. I have a baby RES, LOVE her! Her tank keeps turning green, what am I doing wrong? My daughter bought a Reeves online and they sent the RES along with the Reeves, no charge, explanation etc. She specifically did not want a RES because she knew she couldn't care for it so I didn't want to chance her dying by sending her back so she's mine now. She's little now and in a 10. gallon tank. I have a 100 gallon tank waiting for her as she grows. Can I put two full grown RES in the 100 gallon tank? Question

a 100 gallon tank! that is HUGE! they will be some happy turtles. i have two turts in a 40, and plan to keep it that size. the recomended size is 20 gallons for one full grown turt, and an extra 10 gallons for every other full grown RES, so technically i could have 3. but i wont, 2 is enough...

as for the green, it might just be algea. i got an algea eater fish, but he doesnt do much. i have heard that you can buy algea killer stuff, but i dont know how that would affect turtles, ive never used it. you might want to look into that if you want to get rid of the algea.

welcome to the board Smile

a correction in here, a fully grown-up turtle can NEVER live in a 20-gallon. this is way too tiny for it. in fact, a 20 gallon is almost the minimum size to start with for a hatchling (almost cz others say 10 will do for a while). a 100 gallon is great but there are always chances of fighting so u gotta keep a backup in case u had to separate them.

and btw, great of u to rescue the little RES Smile welcome again

welcome to the site.
The bigger the tank the better, I say!
