we just bought her a new 30 gal long tank, she has a heater, fluval3 plus filter a basking light and a reptile light, oh and larger gravel that is too big to get into her mouth now my question is do I just put it up like I would a fish tank? Also she sits in front of my sliding glass door, I tried moving her away from there last winter but she didn't like it and didn't do well. So I know I will end up with algea and also how often do I clean it out. Her last tank I didn't have a filter so I cleaned it everyday. Thanks for any help and after we get it up and her in it I'll post pictures.

yes just set it up like a fish tank, you might need a bigger filter depending on her size but see how you go, I am planning on using a 3+ on a 25G with a 2" turtle and was thinking it might not be enough!
as for the algae just buy yourself an algae scraper!
Cleaning, really depends on bioload, I've cleaned my big tank out once since I bought it in july but its 120G with a 2" turtle and a large filter at the moment! When my bigger turtles come indoors I'll have to do it more often. I clean whenever the water starts to not look really clear or the nitrates build up, once every 2-4 weeks with adequate filtration! |

Hi there!
One of the other members sent me this:
You need to host photo at www.photobucket.com or any other one you choose. When you get the pic downloaded you copy the IMG link and paste on here. Make sure that the disable BBCode down below is not marked by a check or it wont show. If all that comes up is a blue link thats ok it will still be viewable.
She also said that if it comes up as a black link then not to worry, as someone on this site can sort that for you.
I hope it helps x x x _________________ Have a nice day, and remember to smile and be nice to all! |
