Could anyone be able to tell me what breed they are? I was told they were either Cooters or Florida Maps. They are between 3 and 6 months old.
(I am also getting rid of the gravel, by the way!!)
This is Bertie. He's sitting on my thumb. He's also the tamest of the three
He's a very nosy lad, who always waits one side of the tank for me when I go out! LOL!
This is Bertie on top of his pal Bob
By the way, he LOVES the camera!!!

I thought yellow bellys as they have the same head pattern as the ones in this link http://www.empireoftheturtle.com/Florida/trachemys_scripta.htm
and this link http://turtle_tails.tripod.com/chrysemysturtles/ribbit_01.JPG, actually i think its fair to say that your first pic and my second link are pretty much identical edit again: oh no my links gone i'll find another!
they do look like Cooters from the underneath pattern on the neck but I have a peninnsular cooter and the head markings look nothing like that, and they're definately not red bellies, and def not florida cooters I don't know much about other species |

they are lovely aren't they?!!!
I'm a bit concerned tho, as Bertie has gone really quiet over the last week and doesn't seem to be eating or swimming much. Tho saying that, I added some large rocks and rearranged the tank yesterday to make it a bit more exciting for them, and he went swimming then, but ever since he just sat on the rock basking.
He doesn't even come to the front of the tank anymore like he used to
He also seems to be rubbing at his eyes a lot. Does this sound like he has the start of an illness or something? _________________ Have a nice day, and remember to smile and be nice to all! |

Bertie's swimming and eating again yey!!!
He still does the eye rubbing thing, but I found him swimming and desperately trying to catch this bit of food floating around the tank. Poor luv, it was pretty funny to watch! He caught it after about half an hour of trying.
I don't think he's a very good swimmer. The other too fly round the tank (not really flying, but you know what I mean!) whereas poor Bertie seems to float just under the water, and occasionnally wickles all four legs in the hope of getting somewhere!! lol. _________________ Have a nice day, and remember to smile and be nice to all! |
