Hi!
I'm new to the board and am getting desperate about my turtles. We have a pair of Western painted sisters (they were actually hatched together in captivity by friends of ours). We inherited these girls 2 years ago in a 10 gallon tank. Last year we moved them into a 30 gallon.
Anyways, one of these turtles is getting so mean to the other--constantly and I mean constantly, chasing her around, biting at her, pushing her, worrying at her etc. It's gotten so bad that every day we are removing her for a few hours into a bucket just to give the nice one a break. My question is this: if we got them a larger tank, would that help?? There is no possibility of us separating them and being able to keep them both. We would have to get rid of one--something we don't want to do. Are they just cramped? bored? or plain ornery?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

No they need to be seperated forever now. The one has become territorial and needs space.
