Hello. My kids and I found a box turtle in our yard. He has stayed around now for about 2 - 3 weeks. He's had a blast eating the leafs off my cucumber plants and hiding out under our barbque cover on the back porch. However, what I am needing to know is two things: 1) Can box turtles bite/snap? I hadn't been around them much and I went to drop some leafs by it today, when the thing started making a hissing sound at me. It startled me. I've never seen or heard one do that. Should I keep my children away from it? Then, 2) If it's not harmful, what (if anything) should we feed it? Do we need to water it also? Sorry I sound so dumb, but I'd like to help the turtle, I just don't know how. Thanks for any help. Confused from Arkansas. |

| Since it is a wild turtle best thing to do is leave it alone. |
