I'm curious to know how u all spend your time with your pet turtle.
For me, i bring my RES to the window to have its sun basking.
Watch him swim and dive in the water.
Sometimes, i will even talk to him.
But my parents find that it is weird of me to talk to a turtle.

Do u all talk to your turtle?

Ok... first let me get this out of the way... Your turlte won't receive any sun benefits thru glass like window or it's aquarium so if you don't open the window and have it in a regular container, it won't matter. Also, glass will get to hot for it and could 'cook' it. Sad

Sometimes I lay on the floor and talk to it, or let it chase my finger around. Sometimes I just talk to it before feeding it. When I take it outside to bask, I stay with it the entire time to make sure it can't escape. I talk to her than too Very Happy

My entire family talks to my turtle. Even my dog. LOL

mine are out in the pond at the moment and won't come anywhere near me in case I catch them I guess! Strange cause they seemed quite friendly in the tank, amazing what a bit of freedom does lol

I talk to Tanjobi all the time!

Spending time with him,I will bring him outside in the sun and "hang out with him" and today I had him running about on my balcony and I layed there in the sun with him,musta been a funny sight!

yeah i talk to mine. i take them to walks and swimming sessions in the bathtub too but they HATE that, lol

I talk to lez alot (shes an adult res), and I let little dex walk around on my hand! Razz

I talk to my turt all the time... and I've said it before, but I spend more time watching her swim around then watching the Teli.... my boyfriend thinks I'm a nut! I take her on walks and talk to her then too.... that makes the neighbors think I'm a wack-a-do!! Oh well, I love that turtle!! I can't help it!

The last time my parents went away i emptyed our pool and filled it with fresh water and let rocky (my turtle) go for a swim. lol he loved it but i didnt let him stay in there for very long because he got tired. Cool

i thought i was the only one that talks to there turtle...my wife says im weird from doin that...she always looks at me crazy but u just cant help it

I talk to all my animals......They all need love and they DO after awhile know who you are ! gotta love them all

I totally agree! I talk to Snap all the time.... my friends still think I'm crazy for having a turt as a pet.... and she's so big now, ppl can't believe it. When I tell them we have a turtle they automatically think it's a small one! Laughing

ppl who think it is weird to talk to pets because they think that pets won't understand a single word (maybe dogs will be an exceptional pet).

I think that we talk to pets cos we wish to let our pets to enter our emotional world.
Talk to pets something like how i feel today, etc..
When i feel down, i will watch him swim and somehow it will bighten me a little.

i let my turt swim in the kddie pool on a nice day its 3 feet deep but its bent so the other side is inly 3 inches and a feel i cant talk to any one aroud here so i tell him every thing if he understands what i say he knows more about me than all of my freinds combinde and i love him and aperintly he likes music to Question

ya me and my dad always talk to are "monsters" which would be Bravery, Scardey-cat, Pookey, and Bunky/Humpy! Laughing

Bunky likes to ram your shoes but they have to b white. its kinda akward but its a male wat do u ecpect. Laughing

no afence to any men here.
i spend time with my turtles in this little swiming pool witch is filled with mulch. and a countaner of water. they love it! Razz

I love talking to my turtles. I recently moved in with my boyfriend and he also has a roommate and when i first brought my two turtles in and saw how much attention i gave them they thought i was crazy and needed a life. they would catch me reading books about them all the time and buying new treats like rocks or new decorative stuff for their home and they would call me a dork but i dont care i love watching them for hours and keep me entertained. i talk to them all the time and i honestly think they are very interesting pets to own and are very smart.

Its been a month now that i have been living with them and now they all love the turtles and when we have friends over all they do is hang otu by the tank and watch my turtles swim and ask all these questions. Most people who dont own turtles have no clue that turtles can swim and are rather fast and how big they can grow.

Now it seems that when we have company, no one wants to watch tv or play video games and they prefer hangin out with my turtles Smile

that is soo cool, my turtles are MY turtles.... i own them, not the family... this is a first 4 me.... my parents used to think i wasnt responsible enough to have my own pet... but earlier this summer... i found a turt.... brought him inside but him in a rubber maid container.... fed him.. got online to find out about turtles...... later that day, i let him go..... thats when it all started.... they actually let me have my own turtle!! i have three.... well two now..... a boxie and a RES. They are so fastinating.... i hope (in 4 years) when i go to collage... i can keep my RES with me up there...(where ever i go) anyways my brothers (18 & 21) are really into them.... they always want to feed my boxie and watch her eat...... lol Laughing

boxies are hard to find!! luckily my friend gave me hers!!! she said it hated her!! but it loves me and i love it! she follows me around! she acts like a dogs sometimes!

I talk to mine, but he doesn't like us much, or at all. I still talk to him when I'm about to feed him, clean his tank, or filter.
