Sea Turtles are protected by law. No one can use or have them as pets.

When I was in Oahu , Hawaii last month, I went to a turtle beach called the Honu, there was a giant greeen sea turtle basking right on the beach with the swimmers! There are volunteers there that rope the baskiing Sea Turtles off from tourists and visitors for protection. They first started appearing on the Hawaiian beaches since 1999 and no one knows why. They do migrate 500 miles to the French Shoals, and then come back to Hawaii to rest for several hours on the beach . Years and years ago they were almost extinct, but marine foundations bred them successfully to prevent their extenction . The only problem right now is that Indonesia is catching sea turtles for their food, and the world governments are trying to save them by passing laws to prevent them from being hunted for food.

u can foster sea turtles but not keep them as pets cz u'll never be able to provide a good home for them..unless u buy the atlantic Wink

anyways if u're interested in having one, check the board's website www.allturtles.com there is a link there that lets u adopt a baby sea turtle. they'll keep it at their place (a rehab i guess) and u'll have a certificate of adoption. they'll send u pix of ur turtle and u can visit it but it stays there.

Hi, thanks so much for telling me about the adoption. I already know about it, and I'd love to share this link with you, this is the beach where I saw the Honu Turtle, and if you explore this website there is a link that takes you to the adoption area . I plan on doing this in the near future, but the problem is. I will be giving my daughter a big sweet 16 party in September, so I'm on a budget right now. Sad

wow thanx for the link, i love the place Very Happy gotta start planning for my honeymoon lol Laughing

yeah it is sad how people abuse those sea turtles. although they know that almost all species are endangered, they still insist on rushing things for them! i saw a documentary that was showing how people make nests for sea turtles and as soon as turtles lay their eggs, people take the eggs and use them for sexual driving medicines.. is it the turtles' problem?!!
