Hi . I have a small tank of tropical fish sperate to my turtles. I recently saved a trio of guppies, two females and a male, unfortunatly they cant stop giving birth. I have heard guppies are good food for turtles, although i feel really cruel to do it......would it be a good idea to put about 20 baby guppies in my turtle tank??? Or should i just put a few at a time or do they not even like guppies??
Cheers

Ya!! See if your turt likes them... that could be a great way to save a few bucks!! I don't know if I'd put that many in at first, maybe just a few to see if your turt likes them... mine decided after two goldfish that she didn't. Don 't feel cruel about it, it's life and your turtle might really enjoy the chase! Good luck! _________________ shade & sweetwater! |

well i put 6 baby guppies in and they are all still there now. Murtle has paid no attention to them at all but Mildred has given chase but very quickly got bored!!!!
The guppy that originally had these babies has now just given birth to about 30 more babies and her fellow inmate is about to drop any day so i have a bit of a problem on my hands now but im trying to rehome the randy male!!
Do you think it would be a good idea to put a few goldfish in instead as i read on the message board they eat turtle poo (if the turtles dont eat them). |

I don't see any harm in putting a couple goldfish in with your turts, just make sure they aren't expensive ones, in case they do get eaten! Sounds like a randy male!! Aren't they all?!! _________________ shade & sweetwater! |

| Goldfish are very dirty and will make your water dirtier. They are also very fatty - not a good turtle snack. |

I haven't noticed any extra dirtiness from our two goldfish, and they eat Snappy's poop... that's the only reason I recommended it.... I do know that they're too fatty... must be why my turt doesn't want to eat them. LOL! She's not like me at all... I like extra fatty food!! _________________ shade & sweetwater! |
