Fairly certain it's a box turtle. I don't know if we'll keep him as a pet, as I dunno what the legalities surrounding that are. Anyways, what should I feed him for now?

box turtles are omnivours, so they will eat meat or veggies and fruits. There are a lot of regular turtle foods that you can get as well, although you should feed them veggies and the occasional meat and fruits to make sure they get a good diet.
Hamburger isn't good because it is fatty, and meat should be thoroughly cooked before giving it to them.

in most states taking box turtles r illegal. and if they are then if u release them put them back in the same place tht u found the turtles so it will go back to its routine.
