I am going to send you over to a wonderful group of people who specialize in boxies. I am a member there just so I can get helpful information to help people here with little things. But with the questions you have I think they would be best to help you direct.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/boxturtlelist/

You do have to join up, but they are a great group.

Out of those three, the Eastern Box Turtle is the easiest to keep for a new beginner. Gulf and Ornate need a bit more care and are a little more delicate.

I own two out of the three listed gulf coast/ornate.............easy to care for...both of mine are VERY active eat like pigs and love to get into any and everything so I must say I don't think I agree with the above post.

You don't have to agree. I just did extensive research on these types of turtles and thought it best to give my two cents. Besides, I never said they were hard to care for, just that they need a little more requirements than the Eastern Boxie.

No one was fighting. Just simply stating our opinions.

^^^here, here!! Right on. experiance vs. research.........you decide. Could you tell us exactly what "more requirements" the Gulf coast and ornates need than the eastern? Please share your research with us............knowledge is great and everyone can use a little more. Honestly the eastern box might indeed need less requirements so inlighten us. :P

Okay, so HE is starting a fight. Obviously some people can not deal with others expressing their opinions. I will NOT stoop to this level. I am always here to help, but not to bicker and play childesh games. Let stop this nonsence before a moderator has to get involved.

.... I hate to get involved in some kind of forum drama thing.... but I don't think anyone is trying to start fight.
Maybe Centex was actually asking about what you've researched.
Could you explain the differences for the sake of the turtles? I'm sure many people are interested and this could help someone decide between a turtle they can care for and a turtle they can't.

fishandcandy- You are correct. I am not trying to start a "forum fight" That would be very childish. I thought I made it clear that I DID WANT Nevfalath TO PLEASE SHARE THE INFO ON THE DIFFERENT BREEDS. That is the honest and non sarcastic truth.

Nevfalath- I am sorry if I have offended you or came off confrontational that was not mu intention.

Would you please share the research about the eastern box that you found? I have never owned one so I can say I really don't know much about them. Thanks Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

The "you decide" comment, and "more requirements" writen in quotes threw me off. It sounded sarcastic to me.

Yes, I can share information to compare the three, but at a later time. I don't have much time on the Internet right now. I am just checking in.
