For my birds I use as much natural foods as possible and I stay away from the artificialy colored stuff. Many vets recommend pellet diets and low seed types. I like a balance. Also please don't forget your bird must have his veggies. Very important. If he is hesitant then feed him his veggies first thing in the morning. This is more natural for them as well. Birds go out in the A.M. to feed. So introducing a new food is always best done early.
I have love birds and a friend of mine has a beautiful sun conure and this last weekend got a 13 week old African Grey. Anyway there is a forum just for Africans that does have a diet section. I'll see if I can find it. There is also a bird forum I belong to that is great for things like diet and also for training. I''ll try and find that one too. _________________

I never heard anything about cuc's. I 'd feed her green beans or like the fozen mixed veggies. Let them thaw. DOn't ever microwave them. Microwaves actually destroy the vitamin content. Just thaw out at room temp. Just put them in a little bowl on the counter at night and by morning feeding time they will be ready. Just drain off the liquid and it is ready. They can eat baby foods as a special treat. The fruits have tapioca in them so that is why only a treat.
Don't forget to give him a cuttle bone and a mineral block too. And if possible bottled water. Many birds are sensitive to the clorine in tap water. _________________
