| Me again... We are still working on getting our set-up perfect. I have the 30 gallon tank set up now with about 3/4 water and 1/4 basking area. I have a pump which seems to be working pretty efficiently. I have still been using the black light at night for heating purposes, but I have a spot light type lamp that I have been using during the day. I purchased a reptile bulb at our local pet store, but when I asked it only has UVA rays. To get UVB rays you have to buy the longer type bulbs that go in the aquarium top. Now my confusion with this is that I thought the glass on top blocks out most of the rays. So how do you use an aquarium lid and still get UVB rays to the turtles. I was really hoping there was a regular light bulb that had both rays to go in my day time basking lamp. |

I found a repti-sun coil UVa and UVb bulb at the pet store here and it fits into a normal light bulb fixture instead of the long one. _________________ shade & sweetwater! |

| So excited!!! I went to a smaller pet store today, one specializing in aquariums. They did not have a whole lot of turtle stuff, but I did find a bulb with UVA and UVB rays that fits in a regular light fixture. It kind of looks coiled and is 20 watt which equals 75 watt of a reqular bulb. It was $19.99 so hopefully this works! |
