I know some of you have used/still use them and wondered what all you bought to go with the size rubbermaid box you use.
It's looking like we may end up in an apt until our house is rebuilt, so I might have to consider using them once they are too big for their current habitat.
I know it's going to be expensive but can't see setting up a 55 gallon tank to turn around a few months later and take it down again. I really hate the thought because of my active 4yr old twins, but maybe I'll be able to find a nice quiet spot they can't easily get too.
Thanks for any input!

I have no experience with using a rubbermaid style box for my turtles whatsoever. I used it once when I moved to Tennessee and will use it again on my move back down to florida. As long as the plastic is not damaged and clean you should be fine. I would make sure that the clamp lamp is good and secure and just clip it on. Put all the other suff in to. I would not put substrate at the bottom cause I would think that would just be more to clean through and your not going to want to do a lot of splashing when cleaning especially in an apt. And if you think your moving to a more permanate setup in the furture then less is more.
Basking area, I don't know. My setup would not work in rubbermaid especailly scince alot or rims at the bottom that are tapered and lined weird. You could use two really big circular pvc pipes and use that and put some big rocks on top. Thats easy to clean. I don't know just some input. At least I refreshed the topic
And I get to showcase another wonderful turtle pic. Sorry people but I'm lovin this new camera

Great picture! Congrats on the new camera.
I hate to mention anything about where we are going
because we have no clue, and when we think we do, something
happens to change it. Since so many people are homeless on the Coast,
and so many homes, businesses, and apt/condo's were damaged/gone, we've had no luck finding a place. Looks like we may be moving back to our unfinished house. Atleast we'll be able to work on it more.
The good thing is that now we may be able to get a large aquarium. I found one in the newspaper that includes 50 gallon tank, stand, power heads(?) and light for $150. Does that sound like a good deal? |

| I Have been living in a dorm for the last 3 years and I used a rubbermaid box for my turtles. It worked awesome because it was easy to carry when i needed to clean it and i didn't have to worry about breaking it! I'm living in an apt now so i got a real tank but the rubbermaid is very convienent! |
