Ok so I now am the new mum to a very teeny tiny little RES, to be called Schnappi. It is currently swimming around he tank and exploring etc. He hasn't eaten any of the bloodworms I gave him. So tell me how can I tell if Schnappi is thriving and happy?? How can I settle him in?? Any thoughts...............
By the way he is very cute. He is a hatchling about 3 weeks old, in NZ in is legal to buy them at any age. Just so you know _________________ cant find something nice to say....... |

congrats on ur new baby
it's ok for new turtles not to eat for the first couple of weeks especially that he's a hatchling and u can imagine what he had went through by now. but keep offering him food cz he will eat when he feels safe. try tuna, it's smelly and always works
good luck with little schnappi could u get pix of him? _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

Still wondering what behavior my baby would so that would indicate either happiness or stress and how can I tell whether my baby is happy?? _________________ cant find something nice to say....... |

great now u can begin mixing it with the pellets he has to eat
hmm ok ur turtle will not be so normal for the first period. he might hiss at u, run away and hide if someone gets near, not bask when anyone's around.. such behaviors will change if u make him get used to u. talk to him, hand-feed him, play with him, take him for small walks on the floor.. he'll get used to u but his personality determines the time he needs to do so. usually if he's alone it'll take him some more time but it's ok he'll be fine _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo
