hi guys, I have a few questions, please bear with me. I've had a young res for a few months, had posted here that I couldnt tell if he was eating or not. I've been reading alot of topics and stuff here *a bit obsessivley, i think...wonder if my daughter is hungry?lol* Several of you mention human tuna as a way to get a res to eat, I just tried it minutes ago, and he ate a bunch. was careful not to put too much in there, dont want to overfeed. I was so very excited! I put some pellets in the tuna water to help him eat those too..will dole out a few at a time twice a day...does that sound reasonable? Already this site has helped me Very Happy I think Crush is underweight...his neck, when stuck out...I cant believe there's anything there...it seems like nothing but skin...any thoughts would be appreciated. overall he looks to be very healthy....good color, clear eyes, nothing weird on shell or undershell. already want to get hima bigger tank to give him more oprions and areas to play..lol

If he looks healthy and no soft shell and seems to be active, you are doing fine.....I use to feed my turtle, shrimp and commercial food twice daily when i just got him..he wouldn't stop eating..but it was so fun watching them eat!!!...then he ended up being too fat...so i cut back to less food and less frequent...once a day..about as much as he eats in 5 mins.....now hes almost 2 years old and I feed him about every other day...and it has worked out fine.....
just make sure u feed him lots of veggies too*!

He may not want to eat veggies or fruit when he's young, but keep trying. As with humans, a variety of foods is best.

Mine have definite tastes -- my biggest one will still eat the meat (shrimp, etc.) and loves green vegs but not romaine. She loves strawberries, raspberries and cherries -- but not blackberries or blueberries. My medium-sized one mostly likes the meat but will try a bit of fruit. And my 3-incher is pretty much totally focused on pellets.

Ahh, the pellets soaked in tuna triumphs again Very Happy Very Happy

I try to just feed my turtles once in the morning, I don't want to over feed because too much protein can damage the shell and make it look very bumpy. Confused
