here is a few pictures of my tank.
25 gallon tank
150 watt heater and protective cover(he destroys everything)
Zoomed floating dock This picture isnt very good
Plants and pond weed. Off screen there is a wall of plants under the floating dock to provide a sort of cave/hide.
Let me know what ya think!!! _________________ )@$0/\/ |

cool setup although the pix aren't so clear. be careful about the gravel though, it's too small and he could swallow them _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

I can't see it very well, but from what I can see, it looks great! Like dixieee said, be wary of the gravel! _________________ shade & sweetwater! |

I know that question was for someone else, but those are "floating turtle docks" and they do come in different sizes, I think they're small, medium, or large. I got mine at Petco. _________________ shade & sweetwater! |

lol yeah it took me quite a while to figure out that false bottom thing under the land area. the turtles love to go under that part and chase the fish. its hilarious. but sometime they actually catch them and have quite a nice meal lol. _________________ I'm Bill. | Home Depot! I spent about $11 on the PVC pipe and connectors. Cut it all in my garage with a $.99 hacksaw. Mine's pretty complicated b/c I wanted two levels - a resting in the water level and a basking level. You could make something a lot simpler for probably $5. The pipe fits tight in the connectors so you don't need glue. The top is a metal grill from our toaster oven and a piece of plastic placemat. The floating leaves inside are from Petsmart. Fancy Plants Tony Fern. That was $15 but it's huge. |

| What a great idea! I always thought turtles should have a nice big basking area so they can walk around without falling back in the water. |

|
|
Hiya. Don't know why I never noticed this thread before. This is my old 20Long before I tore it down and made it into a normal fish tank for fish. Why? Well after you see what I kept in it you'll understand
I babble a lot so skip the commentary if you don't care. Pretty sure I’m not going to say anything important
Inhabitants:
4 RES only few months old (yes you see a lot more cause I used to have 8, didn't know any better back then)
2 baby Stinkpots (common musk) age hard to tell because they so small
2 blue crayfish, fairly young
2 Columbian sharks, also young
20 to 40 feeder guppies, some are kinda pretty most ugly
A high-fin pleco
YEAH that's a lot of stuff but hey they all got along great for a year. Each had their own sleeping spot and no fighting ever occured, except for the crayfish fighting each other over food. Then the RES got like 4 or 5inches so I let them go into my uncle's backyard koi pond. Hopefully they stay small for another few years or else they'll eat his koi and he'll be mad at me.
I kept the stinkpots though cause they're cuties, got 2 more actually. They aren't close knit as RES so I’ll probably have to separate them later. They’re only an inch right now. Anyways here are the pics. Sorry so blurry, no chance to retake since the tank is changed.
I like how it glows with room lights off, it's not glow in the dark though. Just the way the UVB/A flourescent bulb lights up.
I realized it's not the most spacious for swimming, but they spend most the time basking anyways and if they do swim, they look happy enough to me. The stinkpots are always exploring the fake plants and doing their ninja turtle stuff in the wall of ferns.. Yup, they climb out of the water and explore looking for exits I supposed, which are all blocked off. RES don't climb because they're too fat for this
One of the lobsters just minding his own business. Probably threatened a bit by the turtle above his home.
I always wonder what they're thinking when they look at me.. Probably thinking about food
No comment, just a turtle wondering why I opened the lid
That’s the stinkpot cute huh? Both getting their hunt on. My RES seem to like attacking from the bottom. Sometimes they win sometimes they don't. The musk can't catch anything but at least they try
The stinkpot's catching his breath. But you can see the RES is still in his position waiting for his moment to pounce..
Now it's just a normal fish tank in the living room with some goldfish in there getting the cycle going. Not sure what's going to go in there yet.
Well that was my tank. Took a lot of thought and searching to get it how I liked. Too bad the RES got too big and I needed room for the bigger tank. Any compliments or opinions appreciated. |
