| My friend wants to give me his 10 year-old yellow belly because he no longer wants to take care of it. It has been baught and raised in captivity and has been fed nothing but cooked shrimp its entire life. I want a turtle, but am skeptical because I don't know how much longer this one typically has to live... I've read somewhere that in captivity, yellow bellies only live 10-12 years. Is this true? |

i suppose they live longer. sliders can live up to 20+ yrs and since a yellow-belly is a slider then it should be somewhere around. they are so cute and friendly i have a baby one
