One of my turtles passed away. I have one still living. Can I put a new turtle in the tank with the one still living? I don't know if its a female or male. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I don't know what it died of. My other turtle is about 1 1/2 yrs old. I believe it's a boy turtle. I believe the other was also a boy. Can I put another boy in the tank?

You really need to make sure your first turtle is safe. If your other one died from a bactiria it could still be in the tank but there are other things as well. Could you give us an idea of your setup? How big? What your water and land temps are? Filtration? Lighting and diet? What type of substrate do you have? Also can you tell us if your turtle showed any signs of distress or illness? Things like swimming sideways, gasping, any growths or even a loss of appitite or excessive basking.

Turtles live up to 20+ years. They are often times much easier to keep as an individual. As they get older they can be very territorial and it is no fun trying to get seperate tanks for them. So keeping one is always a better idea. If you really want two then we can help you get setup right. Just keep in mind it usually means seperate tanks at about 3-4 years of age.
