did anyone try sticking things with silicon in the tank? i'm not planning to use it inside water, i need it to build something on the basking area. a technical question, is it good to stick small wooden pieces or is it better if i use nails? will it harm my babies? (i know they will mess with it)

btw, in the back of my mind i'm addressing someone particular but of course i need suggestions from everyone Wink

thanx buddies Smile

You can use silicone to glue stuff to the basking area, the area
needs to be clean so that the silicone can grab. I wouldn't use
nails, they can rust, I don't know if rust will have an effect on
the turtles, but I wouldn't want to find out. Very Happy

There have been some people that have created some very nice setups
using silicone, I saw one that was half land/half water that I liked,
if I find it again, I will give you the link. Very Happy

Have you thought about using this stuff?
Holdfast Epoxy Stick.
http://www.thatpetplace.com/Products/KW/epoxy/Class//T1/F15+0062+0124/EDP/1196/Itemdy00.aspx
I'll be using it on my new setup... Plain old Aquarium Sealant just does not have enough to hold things down when it comes to turtles of Medium size or bigger.

Your "Normal glue" might have toxins... Consider something that might not be harmful.

Thought...
I don't use that word when it comes to my Turtles. I make sure.
that is why I reccomemnded this:
Quote:

Holdfast Epoxy Stick bonds live rock, slate, plants and corals. It can be used to bond live rock and coral and to build waterfalls and caves. It is easy to use and is safe for all fish and invertebrates in freshwater or marine aquariums
